Alaska Fall Black Bear Hunting

Our Fall Black Bear hunts are conducted along the salmon rivers in Prince William Sound. At the end of summer the rivers are flush with pink, silver and chum salmon easy for the taking as the bears roam the river beds fattening up for the winter. This natural bait concentrates the bears and creates an exciting spot and stalk close quarters hunt. This time of the year makes a very good bow hunt option.

Transportation and accommodations are aboard our comfortable live-aboard vessel “Castaways”. This is the ultimate ‘man cruise’; a whale watching and glacier tour where you can also kill Bears, catch fish & shrimp, & eat fresh seafood.

- Daily Routine -

This fall bear hunt is done right at the start of our fall bear season when the bears are down and eating salmon on the rivers. Mornings are spent hanging out on Castaways swapping hunting stories, watching hunting DVD, and just relaxing. Breakfast is typically served around 9am, it is a full on hunters breakfast – eggs, bacon, hashbrown, pancakes, ect.

We normally push off in the skiffs around 10am, because of the salmon we see bears all times of the days. So we don’t just hunt the nights on our fall hunts. Many times we will stop back in at Castaways for lunch and head back out for a night hunt. After that we get settled in and start cooking dinner.

- Travel To Us -

Travel into Valdez is one of the easiest places in Alaska. There is a quick 45 minute commercial flights twice a day from Anchorage you have a good amount of options to get into town and avoid expensive bush flights. Once in Valdez we will pick you up and bring you to Castaways to get settled in. The first morning we will make sure your rifle is sighted in after the long air travel, make sure license are ready to go and head off in Castaway to the hunting areas.
